Hincapie Training Series Weeks 1+2

First couple race weekends of the season and everything seems to be off to a solid start. Myles got our teams first win, and Alex is riding unbelievably strong in these really tough races. Some great galleries on Spring Series Facebook. Did I mention Myles won!

BMW

Erik Engstrom started off his season with a great top ten finish in his first Cat 4 race. In the Pro/1/2 Alex animated the field and tried several attacks but it was too much to ask. For the Cat 3′s Myles played teammate while Kellen Goodell went for an epic first win with a solo 2 lap flier, only to get caught 200 m from the line.

Donaldson

Windy conditions and cold weather lead to a brutal day. It got the best of our riders, most of them finding shelter in the pack. All except for Stephen Loadholt who pulled out a solid 7th place finish in the Cat 5 race.

Conestee

Fun fast little crit course with great weather led to some solid racing at Conestee. In the Cat 5′s Loadholt again stayed tough for a 6th place finish. Myles and John were always in the front of the 3′s constantly pushing the pace. It looked like John had a great chance to win for a bit, finding himself in a 3 man breakaway. The break got swallowed up though and the pack came in for a sprint finish. Myles came through first wheel at the botttom of the hill and simply out climbed/sprinted everyone winning by inches with a well timed bike throw.

Donaldson

Another tough day at Donaldson and another great result for Loadholt (is this guy going to cat up yet?) making the final break of 4. In the Cat 3 race all 3 of our guys were off the front at some point animating the race but it came down to a group sprint. John took the top spot of the team with 12th. In the Pro/1/2 Zack was getting an education on pain while Alex was showing just how good of form he has this year. Making the original breakaway with Alex Ray  on lap 2. He hung in for 6 laps with the Hincapie boys, Uberti and Winston David to pull out a stellar 6th place finish.
